Module 6. Land Treatment and Instrumentation

The Tunnel Treatment and InstrumentationModule of the Master's Degree in Tunnelling and Underground Worksbegins today.

The week-long module provides a detailed overview of the most commonly used treatments and techniques currently used in the construction of tunnels and underground works, as well as a detailed development of control and instrumentation techniques.

During the module, the student will be guided through numerous examples of executed works that offer a practical vision of the design of the project, the execution and control of the work. A roadmap that allows the student to understand and deal with the peculiarities of the construction of these infrastructures, receiving comprehensive training on the entire process.

The module in its face-to-face modality is divided into:

  • Introduction to the use of ground treatment techniques in tunnels.
  • Injections and treatments project.
  • Auscultation and monitoring.
  • On-site instrumentation installation problems.
  • Example of auscultation
  • Instrumentation practices.
  • Examples of treatment of real works (I).
  • Practice on land treatment.
  • Examples of treatment of real works (II).
  • Treatments in problematic tunnels. (low cover, unstable face, fault passage, etc.).
  •  Protection of buildings against subsidence (jet grouting, micropiles and compensation grouting).

Online module. Starting from 2 JUNE

This Module on Design and Construction of Tunnels using Tunnel Boring Machine will be taught in its online mode from 2 JUNE.

Each class within the Module will have training videos recorded exclusively for online monitoring by the same professionals who teach the subjects of the Module in its face-to-face version.

The module will be followed through the virtual platform of the UNED and has the methodology used by the University for its virtual courses as well as a personalised monitoring of the students by the support team and the teaching team.

The deadline for the formalisation of enrolment is 12 MAY
